Grade 430 is a ferritic stainless steel alloy offering good corrosion resistance and is resistant to nitric acid, which makes it very useful in chemical applications. The satin brushed grain finish makes It perfect for decorative applications such as cladding.
The corrosion resistance is good, but not as good as the austenitic grades such as 304. In addition, the alloy benefits from good formability and is also weldable. Machinability is good but there is a small possibility of galling. Grade 430 steel is often used in the manufacture of domestic appliances and is often used in the automotive sector for trim parts.
